Overview

John McLeod concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, trust and estate administration, and taxation. In his estate planning practice, he works with clients to design and implement estate plans by preparing wills and trust agreements. John also assists clients with making lifetime gifts and other transfers. These lifetime transfers are often motivated by the desire to lessen the burden of future estate taxes and typically involve the creation of irrevocable trusts. John is experienced in drafting various types of trust agreements, including dynasty trusts designed to last for multiple generations, intentionally defective grantor trusts, spousal lifetime access trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, charitable remainder trusts, and charitable lead trusts. He also assists clients in planning for their incapacity by preparing general durable powers of attorney and advance directives for health care. In additional to his estate planning practice, John advises personal representatives and trustees concerning the administration of estates and trusts and assists clients with various other business and tax matters.
